
Three days ago I visited a website, saw something that made me laugh out loud, and which I found rather quaint, and thought I would seed it to Newsvine. It was about a sex theme park being closed down in China.

Last year we called on Google to let users have the option of making Google Analytics data public. Today they've done that, in a fashion. They aren't aggregating the data into a public site (although adding it to Google Trends over time would make sense).

This article can be applied to Newsvine columns, but the basic principles are the same for any news-type blog or a website where you post up articles of interest. As far as Newsvine traffic, you are going to have a lot of competition from other users.

Google has just updated its Google Trends application to allow trend spotting by domain name. The new feature allows the same capabilities from the keyword trend search, but adds the ability to view trends by domain name.

During a moment of curiosity and boredom earlier today I decided to pull up my Google Analytics and delve a little deeper into it. Normally I just see which of my articles and seeds are getting the most page views and sometimes I check to see where my referrals are coming from.

It feels great to hit and stay on the front page of Newsvine with something you've written, whether it's detailed political analysis, biting satire, or a one-sentence philosophical treatise.

Google has recently rolled out a new Google Analytics version. Several users inquired about it, so we did a little bit of investigation. It simply requires an update to your tracking code, and Newsvine recently rolled out some support for it.

This isn't an exact science by any stretch, because there are more factors involved in your earnings than just page views, but it appears to be a good indicator. So, here is how to (somewhat reasonably) predict your Newsvine earnings.

We've had some discussion about Newsvine and Google Analytics, and that they are not working at the moment.
Because my Newsvine analytics are not working, I thought, that I could check my another site, compare different site meters and write about that.

Thanks to a comment by BlaiseP on this BabelFish article, I learned about using Google Analytics on a Newsvine column. BF was writing about the frustration of seeding stories and writing articles and getting little to no response in the form of votes or comments.
