Another castaway goes home on ‘Survivor’

Laura Morett was taken out by Russell, Foa Foa, and two members of her former tribe, Galu: Shambo and John. John initially voted for Natalie, sticking with Galu and Laura, but he broke a dramatic tie vote in order to save himself. She'd long been a target of Shambo's for some unclear reason, but Russell also wanted her gone because she is the presumed leader of Galu, never mind the fact that she won two consecutive individual immunity challenges. Complete Story...

Tribal council trickery dooms ‘Survivor’

Kelly was blindsided at Tribal Council by the old Foa Foa tribe because of the Galu alliance's stubbornness. Russell played yet another hidden immunity idol, and although John correctly predicted he might do just that, Galu didn't split their votes, resulting in one of their own being voted out. "I ain't finished playing just yet," Russell said, and he sure ain't.

Ousted ‘Survivor’ castaway never saw it coming

Bartender Erik Cardona, 28, was voted out of the newly merged tribe, and became the first jury member and this season's biggest blindside. "Wow, wow, wow," he said after being voted out while holding a hidden immunity idol, which he didn't play because "you can't defend against something that's invisible." His strategizing around camp seemed to freak everyone out, so they got rid of one of Galu's strongest players instead of picking off one of the weaker former Foa Foas.

Is this the worst ‘Survivor’ season ever?

Now in its 19th season, "Survivor" has been remarkably resilient. There have been ups and downs, but there's never been a season that was a complete dud. Unfortunately, that streak may be coming to an end with this season, which is so far the closest thing Mark Burnett has ever produced to a complete failure.

Happy birthday, Simon, the best mean Brit ever

The film noir has the femme fatale; the modern romantic comedy has the sardonic best friend. For every genre there is at least one stock character, and for reality-competition shows with judging panels, it is the Mean British Person. And the reason is simple: Simon Cowell, who turns 50 on Oct. 7.

5 things that make ‘Talent’ better than ‘Idol’

After spending the better part of a day behind the scenes and on the set of “America’s Got Talent,” something became painfully obvious. Although the ratings stand as pretty sufficient evidence, this show … really is good. In fact, it's better than “American Idol.”

DeGeneres: She'll be honest but kind on `Idol'

Ellen DeGeneres is known for being nice. But the new "American Idol" judge said she's ready to be honest with the show's contestants, good or bad.

Ellen brings EveryFan sensibility to ‘Idol’

Ellen DeGeneres changes that dynamic of "American Idol" because she doesn't have music expertise. She's simply a big fan of the show. And judging from the initial comments from both DeGeneres and Fox, that’s why she was hired.

Tidbits: ‘Success is the best revenge’ for Abdul

A published report reveals the Paula Abdul has big ambitions for an upcoming Las Vegas revue. In fact, the singer-dancer-choreographer is said to have her sights set on nothing less than a stage-to-small screen sensation.

Who will replace Paula Abdul on ‘Idol’?

Paula's particular blend of sympathy and loopiness is irreplaceable, but there are still a number of women who could fill her soundbite quota.  Posh Spice would love the job, but what about Lil Kim or Queen Latifah?

Scoop: Jackson: ‘I’ll die on the stage if I have to’

Despite the singer's apparent heavy usage of medications, his will to live, and to perform, was still strong, a source says.

Advice for ‘Idol’: Judges, host need to move on

With the chemistry of the "American Idol" judges' table dramatically altered, now is as good a time as any for the show's remaining stars to reflect and make some much-needed changes.

Scoop: Paula’s tweet took ‘Idol’ staffers by surprise

Asked whether Abdul’s spot will be filled or whether the show will forge ahead with three judges, reps for the show and for production companies had no comment.

Abdul says she's receiving `many wonderful' offers

Since announcing her exit from "American Idol," Paula Abdul has been in high demand.

Scoop: Abdul rejects show that kept her relevant

If Paula Abdul’s aim was to shock people with her announcement that she was leaving “American Idol,” by most accounts, she succeeded. If she was hoping to act out a celebrity cliché, she succeeded with that, too.

Abdul says she's quitting 'Idol' with sad heart

If Paula Abdul's abrupt Twitter announcement that she's quitting "American Idol" is a contract negotiating ploy, it's a spectacular one.

Midyear TV: ‘Idol’ and ‘Glee’ hit right notes

Summer provides a bit of a breather between the end of one TV season, the random summer shows that come and go, and the new fall season. Looking back, we've seen some encouraging trends, and some that need to be squashed faster than "Wipeout" contestants.

Fans support Paula Abdul, but would 'Idol' go on?

The clock is winding down to the judges' round of "American Idol" auditions — next month, the gates will be opened for a new batch of hopefuls. They'd do well to come prepared: Paula Abdul might not be around to dole out much-needed hugs and kind words of encouragement.

`Idol' rat pack: 10 finalists prepare for tour

In a small, unadorned studio far removed from cameras, spotlights and songs ending with an instant review, the top 10 "American Idol" finalists are getting ready for a nationwide tour.

'American Idol' returns to Southern talent-magnet

When "American Idol" searches for talent, the hit TV show certainly doesn't have a problem finding any in Atlanta.

Is Idol Rigged? Have the Final Four Already Been "Picked"?
Source: TV Show Recaps

Another week, another "scandalous" (and unsubstantiated) bit of American Idol buzz. This time, the talk is that Season 8's final four have already been decided on by producers and judges, and that two of said "chosen ones" in fact have been ruled out as possible winners.

American Idol - Finals Round 1

The theme for the night was Michael Jackson. This seems to be a poor choice because of the degree that Michael 'owns' most of his songs. Anyone singing them will always be compared to his renditions.

American Idol Wildcard Picks - A Baker's Dozen!!!

The producers decided to throw us a curveball with this show. More on that later. The advertised goal was to augment the 9 finalist to the eventual total of 12.

American Idol - Third Results and Wild Cards

The producers subjected us to the usual group sing. There has yet been a good reason offered for this demonstrated. The competition is not for the next "American Pickup Group" They "hid" a audition in the first commercial. No identification or result was offered.

American Idol - Third Elimination Competition Round

It was with trepidation that I listened to the announcement that this was another two hours for 12 people to sing for 1 minute 20 seconds each. At least they got to the first singer rather quickly.

American Idol - Season 8 - Second Selections

This program started out with a bit of promise. It appeared that maybe, just maybe, the producers had been reading the criticisms. The was less useless backstory and more of the singing we did not get to see. Even the brief sessions with the losers was not bad.

American Idol - Second Elimination

It starts with the usual waste of time but it did not seem to be as much as previous sessions. Did the producers listen to the complaints and rewrite? We shall see.

American Idol - First Results

They set an hour aside to reveal three names. This means they will have to fill a LOT of time. After all, how long does it take to read three names? They take less time to reveal the lottery numbers every week. Take an hour show, subtract the commercials - 24 minutes.

American Idol - Top 36 - First Eliminations

There is a new twist this year. The top 36 were divided into 3 groups. The top vote getting male and female go through along with the one with the next most votes. The final 3 will be from the second chance show. Each person gets 1 minute and 20 seconds to sing.

American Idol - Salt Lake City

We start with a long back story about one of the Osmunds. If this is supposed to a competition about undiscovered talent who have not had a chance, why is he here? The judges properly and clearly pointed out that he did not portray himself as a solo artist.
