One year ago today, we learned of the death of our dear friend and colleague, James Kim. James was, both at work and at home, a kind, intelligent, exuberant presence. We miss him very much.

James Kim was a respected expert on cutting-edge digital devices, an owner of a trendy clothing store, and a lover of the futuristic-sounding music known as electronica.

During my work at BYTE Magazine ME, Windows Magazine ME and Yahoo Internet World ME, James Kim's insight and reviews were an inspiration to me. I read and watched and learned from him and was horrified today to learn of his tragic death.

For some reason I had been following the story of the search for James Kim in the upper Northwest very closely. I remember James Kim from watching him on FreshGear, I think, years ago. But that was not why I was so interested.

Today a top Newsviner, Ardith, claimed she scooped "CNN, AP, and MSNBC" on the discovery of the body of James Kim.

According to the press conference held on CNET TV, James Kim's body has been found in the search area at approximately 12:03pm PST. James Kim is a well-known former TechTV star and was an employee with CNET in San Francisco.

With Kati and the Kim children safely recovered from the Oregon wilderness, the search has been on since yesterday with renewed vigor to find James Kim, the missing and much-missed senior editor at CNET. He left his family Saturday in search of help, and has been missing since.
