Best bets: Springsteen's latest CD hits stores

“Working on a Dream” already made its debut on the NPR Web site, and now the album hits stores this week. After hearing the first two songs, the New York Times declared Springsteen “more hopeful” than in the past. Perhaps that’s because Springsteen, who performed at last week's concert honoring the inauguration, first played the title song during one of President Barack Obama’s campaign stops. Best bets: Time to get ‘Lost’

Are you ready to get ABC's twist-filled island drama returns this week, and there are sure to be twists aplenty in store for the Oceanic Six (Jack, Kate, Hurley, Sayid, Sun and Aaron), who apparently are the only ones who got off Mystery Island. Or did they? Figuring out this show is worse than figuring out your taxes. (Returns Jan. 21, 9 p.m., ABC)

Best bets: 'American Idol' is back

Was it really only 8 months ago that David Cook was crowned King of the World, or, at least, American Idol 2008? It was, and now a whole new crop of hopefuls, from the divine to the desperate, will blast into the spotlight when the new season of begins. New this year: Fourth judge Kara DioGuardi, 36 instead of 24 semifinalists, the return of the wild-card round, and no Thursday episodes. And, of course, endless rumors about whether or not Paula Abdul is leaving the show. (Jan. 13, 8 p.m., Fox)

Best bets: ‘Bachelor,’ ‘Biggest Losers’ return

It's a new year, and with it, a slew of new reality shows. First, is back, and with a twist — this year's single guy looking for love is a Seattle single dad. Jason Mesnick was rejected by "Bachelorette" DeAnna Pappas in July, but he won the hearts of many viewers, so now he'll be the one handing out the roses. Some viewers are uncomfortable with Mesnick in this role since he has a three-year-old son, Ty, from his first marriage. But Mesnick claims he found the woman of his dreams on the show, so now you can watch it all unfold. (Premieres Jan. 5, ABC, 8 p.m.)

Rand Memorial Hospital in the Bahamas tells TMZ the son of John Travolta died today. We're told 16-year-old Jett was vacationing with Travolta and wife Kelly Preston. We do not know the circumstances of his death.
