Firman calls himself a "real Republican." He said he will make the constituents' issues his issues. "What is my platform?" he asked. "What is yours? What are the major issues? What are your major issues? You tell me. You are sending me to represent you."

Samuel "Jerry" Firman (born in 1936) is a resident of Coshocton, Ohio and is a retired publisher of a local newspaper titled the Coshocton Free Enterpriser, which he sold in 1994. Mr. Firman is also a former United States Army aviator.
