‘Dancing’ bids farewell to another star

Shortly after receiving the honor of the encore dance for their weird robot-inspired paso doble, Joanna Krupa and Derek Hough became the first couple put through to the semifinals. To no one's surprise, Mya and Dmitry Chaplin were next to be declared safe, followed by Donny Osmond and Kym Johnson. That left only Kelly Osbourne and Louis van Amstel and Aaron Carter and Karina Smirnoff.

‘Dancing’ does time warp with themed dances

After two weeks of double eliminations that have seen so-so dancers dropping like flies, "Dancing With The Stars" is down to five couples. Monday was the first night where every couple performed two complete individual dances — one ballroom dance, and one Latin dance styled in the manner of a particular era. The Latin round was a little stronger and a lot weirder than the ballroom round, but in the end, the longtime frontrunner was back at the head of the pack.

Aaron Carter shines on ‘Dancing’

Monday night kicked off with the second week of double eliminations on "Dancing With The Stars." This week required every team to learn two dances: one alone, and one for a team confrontation between Team Paso Doble and Team Tango. Not only that, but Tom Bergeron announced early that there was another illness in the ballroom.

First perfect scores appear on ‘Dancing’

Billed as "the sexiest night of the season," Monday night's episode of "Dancing With the Stars" featured two Latin dances: the samba and the rumba.

Perfect evening of ‘Dancing’ for Gilles

Apparently, filling two hours of show isn’t easy with only four couples left, so the entire first half-hour of Monday night’s two-hour “Dancing With the Stars” extravaganza was consumed by all four couples explaining in great detail exactly how they progressed from the early weeks to the semifinals.

‘Bionic booty’ doesn’t make ‘Dancing’ cut

The first celebrity to be safe was a surprise to no one: Gilles Marini. The second was Melissa Rycroft. Next to be safe was Shawn Johnson. So far, nothing to even raise an eyebrow. But when it was announced that it was not the low-scoring Ty Murray but the talented and substantially higher-scoring Lil’ Kim going home this week, the entire audience gasped. Ty, while very personable, is entirely out of his depth going up against Gilles and Melissa, while Lil’ Kim still had the potential to pull out some surprises. A disappointing result.

Celebs double up on performances on ‘Dancing’

This week marked the first episode of “Dancing With The Stars” where each couple would perform two individual dances, and in case you feared that it would be overly action-packed, that panic would have been snuffed out quickly with the opening filler number introducing viewers to … the concept of ballroom dancing.

An injured Melissa misses ‘Dancing’

“Dancing With the Stars” doesn’t usually roll out the drama the minute the contestants come down the stairs, but when Melissa Rycroft didn’t appear, something was clearly amiss.

Melissa and Tony grab top spot on ‘Dancing’

The field is down to seven on “Dancing With The Stars,” so we’re about done with the part where you can fake it. At this point, if you can’t dance, you’re in big trouble. Based on recent weeks, this would seem to spell problems for Ty Murray and Lawrence Taylor, though even one-time frontrunner Gilles Marini, who once seemed untouchable, had a less-than-perfect showing in his last outing.

‘Dancing’ sends home a fan favorite

After Monday night’s shakeups (Gilles Marini, down; Lil’ Kim, up), viewers were looking at two familiar guys at the very bottom of the judges’ ratings. Steve-O and Ty Murray have both struggled in the past, though Steve-O has consistently stunk, while Ty was down, then up, then back down. The two of them seemed destined to share space under the ominous red light of the bottom two. But host Tom Bergeron surprise-announced early on that there would be no dance-off this week, for reasons he did not share.

Lil Kim dazzles on ‘Dancing With the Stars’

Last week wasn’t an especially impressive week for many of the contenders of “Dancing With The Stars,” so several were eager to get back on track on Monday night.

ConsumerMan: Shady retirement seminars

Many people who are near or at retirement age are desperate right now. They’ve seen a dramatic decline in the value of their retirement accounts and they are looking for a way out. Unethical salespeople are eager to take advantage of this.

Warren Sapp dances his way to a comeback

In a season set on shaking things up, Monday night saw yet another new twist on “Dancing with the Stars.” Unlike last week’s team-routine gimmick, celebrities had a chance to strut their solo stuff — well, a mere 15 seconds of it. And given how some spent that time in the spotlight, brevity was a good thing.

Brooke foxtrots to perfection on ‘Dancing’

With the dance floor dead weight and much of the humor out the door (So long, Cloris Leachman!), “Dancing with the Stars” got back to the business of ballroom Monday night. And just in case the beloved basics weren’t enough, the show that’s never needed a twist added one anyway.

Toni Braxton takes her final ‘Dancing’ bow

The breakthrough that never happened: Before hitting the dance floor with a West Coast swing that left something to be desired, R&B singer Toni Braxton admitted she was still waiting for the big routine that would break her out of her rut.

Cody hot on Brooke’s ‘Dancing’ heels

Monday night saw new challenges for pros and amateurs alike on “Dancing With the Stars,” as the fifth week of the competition ushered in four dances never seen on the show before.

Two perfect scores for Kristi on ‘Dancing’

As the sixth season of “Dancing With the Stars” draws near the end, the quest for the mirror ball trophy is in high gear. Monday night, the remaining celebrity hoofers brought their best to the ballroom for two of the three final rounds of competition.

Kristi skates back to the top on ‘Dancing’

The sixth season of “Dancing With the Stars” hit the semifinal round Monday night, and lady luck played a role for a change. Just to mix things up, last week’s lenient lift law was dropped in favor of a shiny, new twist: random dance picks. Drawing the dances du jour from a mirrored ball (containing several smaller mirrored balls — got to love those layers of cheese!), chance dictated who was ready to rumba and who would face the foxtrot.

Injured arm doesn’t stop Cristián on ‘Dancing’

Just like last week, the celebrity hoofers from “Dancing With the Stars” took on both ballroom basics and Latin routines Monday night. To mix things up this time around, the stars had a chance to add a little more excitement and occasional altitude to the usual steps, thanks to judge Len Goodman’s recently enacted lenient lift rule. But the real action didn’t come from the dancers’ newfound freedom to toss their partners into the air.

The good, bad and cheesy: 'Dancing' hits 100

Tuesday night, the typical "Dancing With the Stars" results show gets a temporary makeover as the program celebrates its 100th episode. Famous faces from seasons past are set to take the floor in the two-hour extravaganza, including season four winner Apolo Anton Ohno and round five's almost-victors, Mel B and pro partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy. Also-rans such as Jerry Springer and Wayne Newton will grace the floor, too, but here's hoping it's in a strictly non-dancing capacity.

No fumbles for Jason on ‘Dancing’

Monday was mix-up night on “Dancing with the Stars,” as each celebrity hoofer took on two very different routines. The first round of major moves was strictly ballroom, and Latin numbers finished out the night. But the dances weren’t the only drastic differences.

A perfect score for 'Dancing' queen Kristi

It was ballroom’s greatest hits Monday on “Dancing with the Stars,” as the celebs took on dances previously seen this season. While each routine was new to the individual stars, they all made for a dance floor retrospective with the return of the foxtrot, rumba, Viennese waltz, mambo, jive and cha-cha-cha.

'Dancing' fave Kristi delivers a romantic rumba

The ballroom game heated up Monday night as the celebrities faced the Latin music on “Dancing With the Stars.” The rumba and samba offered new challenges and higher stakes, but with obvious left-foots such as Adam Carolla out of the competition, each step counted for more than before.

Shannon's legs give her an edge on 'Dancing'

Traditionally, the fourth week of “Dancing with the Stars,” which features the dizzying Viennese waltz and the passionate paso doble, separates the so-so celebs from the real contenders. Not so this season, as the dancing divide remains much the same.

Priscilla's sexy tango lights up 'Dancing'

Monday night was filled with the best and worst of what the celebrity contenders have to offer on “Dancing With the Stars.” With the first round of eliminations behind them (good riddance, Penn Jillette and Monica Seles!), the competitors pulled out all the moves — not just the good ones — in an effort to stick around.
