Listening In Live to Presto Descanto (with audio!)

When the time came for him to go on, most of the crowd had dissolved. It was well after midnight in Bucktown and the bar was dead, so Presto Descanto performed his new album in its entirety from start to finish for twenty people while the rest of the world really missed out.

Listening In Live to Tilly and the Wall: 3/21/2008

Satellite Party at the Fillmore in New York 9/5/2007

Huge, slick, ostentatious hard rock has been a bafflingly popular genre for nigh on thirty years. I've spent most of my music-listening life wondering how people could continually get into music that was, to me anyway, one-note, unoriginal and largely uninspiring.

Rain has an interesting effect on live shows. With bad music playing it can reinforce every negative aspect of the experience, heighten criticism and leave an audience not only bored but also cold and slightly miserable.
