This week marks the one year anniversary for the concept of Good News Wednesday. Our friend, Azsky13 wrote the article kicking off the idea of posting only good news concentrating on one day a week.

First things first. I must apologize to PenniD and 2centsworth, for agreeing to this challenge and then making them wait days for delivery. What can I say? I'm a flake. A very private flake.

World on Fire--do we do enough?Source: YouTube
Today I was thinking, do I do enough to make the world a better place? As it turns out, after listening to this song on the radio today I've come to the conclusion that, no, none of us do anywhere near enough.

It seems to me that in life and with movies and TV shows and even on blogs, that some people see that other people are attracting a lot of positive attention and that some of those people seem to exist just to criticize the other people.

I love polls. One of the greatest parts of Newsvine (IMHO) is asking people questions and getting their response. It comes from a real genuine curiosity about how people feel about many different things.
The Top Ten Internet RulesSource: Telegraph
The internet has matured into a world of its own, and like the real world, it obeys certain immutable laws. Here are 10 of the most important.

How quickly it came, just over one year and I am writing my 150th article, not bad!? Newsvine truly is a kind of addiction,
I don't think I have gone more than two days since I joined without logging in and two think that the article that made me join was this one about the p …

I had an unpleasant experience with Newsvine Friday PM October 16, 2009. The web site "hung" repeatedly, and I suspect that the electronic malfunctions are damaging my software in my computer.

While i still can i wanted to let my friends here know that i most likely won't be here much longer. I will either be suspended or banned. I couldn't take it anymore. The hypocrisy of some "moderators" if you can call him/her that.

As the group owner I have purged the EroticaVine membership of any Newsvine members who have not been seen in the past 9 months. Anyone whose "Last Seen" date was before February 2009 was removed. There are a few others who will be removed next month.

I bought a brand new computer, an Intel Pentium. I came with Norton security. The first thing it does is that it recommends that I NOT enter Newsvine. Well, I did anyway. Now, four days later, Norton detected a threat.

For each edition of the ongoing series my goal is to spotlight the best articles I've read in the last month or so. Seeds are great but I, for one, much prefer reading original writing. This is a way to give back to the newsvine community, the one I'm addicted to.

And has it really been a year????

What is more important: Your vote in last election or your activity on the Internet? I'm not so sure any more but the the latter is beyond dispute growing in importance. And here's why.

Wow, I just noticed that today is my one-year anniversary on Newsvine.
I can say that it's been an intresting experience and I got to talk to a lot of cool people here and so far, for the most part, I'm enjoying my membership here.

European Journalism Centre is hosting blogging competitions. Last one was about the European Parliament elections earlier this year and the next one will be about the climate change summit in Copenhagen the coming December. Bookmark the blog and podcast feeds already today.

"Just because we're liberal, lefty, Democratic or progressive doesn't mean we don't need a treehouse to say things not for mixed company."
Is this a joke? There are 70 members....and presumably, only they know the answer.
Join the Future of Publishing: Leave a CommentSource: Utne
Earlier this summer, as part of a master's program at Emerson College, Kerry Skemp began blogging and tweeting about online commentary (i.e., comments left on websites or tweets) and its role in the future of publishing.

I'm fascinated that there's been, and continues to be, so very little coverage in the media of the parole hearing of Leonard Peltier. The Native American activist was convicted on questionable grounds of shooting two FBI agents 33 years ago.
