This is the first ever meeting of DC United and the Seattle Sounders in Major League Soccer. The Sounders are new to MLS but they are not an entirely new team, previously they competed in the United Soccer Leagues. Also Seattle have a very good manager with Sigi Schmid.

The two conference leaders meet tonight on ESPN's MLS game of the week.

The two teams that sit atop the East and West conferences face each other tonight on ESPN 2. The Chicago Fire lead the East and the league with 17 goals scored his season.
