I've been asked to keep up a dialogue within the community about the potential future implementation of Newsvine Guilds. To that end, I bring you this post: I want to delve a little bit more deeply into exactly what we mean when we say guild.

Just a quick one that I have been thinking about for a while.

Lots of updates to the site of late, and I haven't made a long-winded request for new features in a few days so here goes:

There has been a lot of discussion lately on voting, and how the system does, should, or can work. Many different ideas have been thrown around, in many different areas, and there are still quite a few people, who don't understand why the current voting system is in place.

The Idea
In light of recent discussion, I'd like to bring back an idea I posted about a few weeks ago.

Although the thought parked itself in the back of my brain since joining Newsvine, I've often wondered about the site's plan to deal with copyright/fair use issues.

Ok, so I'm not gonna talk about the post-feudal economic structure in Europe.

After reading all of the comments, i see lots of comments where someone corrects their spelling mistakes in a previous comment: eg:

What about some sort of comment credibility rating?

I just started using newsvine and am quickly finding it to be an extremely useful e-news gathering information application tool.

Prompt has goaded me into writing about how I write. Since I wrote something similar for someone who asked about tips for analysis just this morning, I thought I'd pass those on.

Has anyone else noticed it? It is the emergence of strong authors on the Vine who are putting down what will be viewed as the classic Vine Style.

News media-based web sites are only as good as their content, which usually places a strong emphasis on writing. Below are a few tips I've picked up over several years in working in the online media industry that would apply to seeding Newsvine.

Hmm, doesn't seem to exist here but I swear I just saw a spell check on the comment thread of the last post I was reading.

So I'm sort of in favor of a way to make it easier to maintain a dialogue in the comments - I like the idea that we have debates and discussions in the comments, a lot of thoughts come out, but this is only important if everyone participating is working towards some sort of a syn

I have been playing around with Newsvine and found myself thinking of the tags over and over again, in different lights. And then it dawned on me, wouldn't it be useful for groups, such as internet clubs, gaming clubs / teams, etc.

There is a common problem among news sites, and unfortunatly I find Newsvine has it. Alright, so it may just be that my history is firmly rooted on Slashdot, however I still feel that few other sites have gotten it quite as right as they have.

Why search for one tag when you can search for two, three, four or more?

The more links and posts I've added to my personal archive, the more I've thought, I hit on a range of topics. I wonder if there's a way to isolate the items into different category.

I thought it would be nice if there was a quick way to share an interesting seed/post with other members. Just a simply "share this seed/post" button that you would click and it would ask for your friend's newsvine name.

The concept of Newsvine is certainly a fresh one which deserves praise for its early execution. What has me thinking, however, is the path on which it is headed.

As Newsvine gets more members and matures, the amount of posts and seeds each member published will only get bigger and bigger. If some people (i.e.

So I know the idea of "Group Columns" has been floated around and I know it's on the list of things to be implemented, but I was just wondering how such a thing would work.

What if I want to send my friends on newsvine a private message? I know there isn't a Private Message system in place yet, but what if I were to post something with no category and only one tag - say, MyksFriendsWatchThis or something obscure that wouldn't come up at random.

Uh, hope you guys aren't getting sick of me posting things starting with "How about if you..." but I got another one for you.
