The day after the terrible terrorist attack at Islamabad's Islamic University that took the lives of eight innocent students, certain TV news channels ran a footage of a dozen or so angered students of the university pelting stones.

Have we become so hardened that we don't really care about our fellow American any more?
What about the homeless families who are not opining on this tonight? Do we care about them, whatever reason they are homeless? Or do we parse on that, laying blame?

We have homophobia, Europes highest teen pregnancy, Europe's highest binge drinking rate, Racism, A terrible ecconomy and so many more.

I am America. I sprang forth from a world ruled by kings to become a uniquely free nation. I am a nation of contradictions and yet beautifully simple.
Now who loves America more? It's not the GOPSource: Politico
Twenty-five years ago, U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Jeane Kirkpatrick famously lambasted Democrats as "blame America firsters" and a party plagued by "self-criticism and self-denigration" of America.
One Nation, Under IllusionSource: Common Dreams
The hoariest and most oft-repeated cliche in American politics may be that America is the greatest country in the world. Every politician, Democrat and Republican, seems duty bound to pander to this idea of American exceptionalism, and woe unto him who hints otherwise.

Over the last several months I've been seeing the phrases "I believe in / defend / will die to protect the Constitution and the Bill of Rights". And it has started to puzzle me.

The fact that many Republicans were happy that America lost the Olympic bid proves in my opinion that they wouldn't know patriotism if it slapped them in the face.

When the International Olympic Committee voted against Chicago's bid for the 2016 Olympics this morning -- after the President and First Lady flew to Copenhagen to push for it in person -- the Weekly Standard newsroom burst into applause.

Religion and patriotism are without a doubt two of the most fiercely debated and defended topics in this country.

The President's UN* talk was more of the same, same old formula: Me, me, me / then Bush blew it / then I came /and, presto, the waters parted.
There is no need to listen to these speeches anymore:

I have been burned, spit on and dragged through the streets.
I have been frowned at, cursed at and trampled under feet.
People see me and curse my presence,
for I remind them of my country's essence.
It seems that the more my owners do to make things function,
