I got this message in my email to day, all the way from Niger. A family friend is serving two years in the Peace Corp far from home in Africa. It's been a difficult situation for her but she has developed a good meditation practice and dedicated herself to serving the people.

A few days ago, John Edwards called for mandatory national service, or at least significant national dialogue about such a plan.
