Why is Charlotte Allen so mad at atheists? - Los Angeles TimesSource: The L.A. Times
Charlotte Allen is very, very angry with us atheists -- that's the only conclusion that can be drawn from her furious broadside in The Times on May 17. She can't stand us; we're unpopular; we're a problem. What, exactly, is the greatest crime of modern atheists?
We're boring.
Catholic Clergy Response to PZ Myers' IrreveranceSource: christiannewswire.com
The Confraternity of Catholic Clergy (a national association of 600 priests & deacons) respond to the sacrilegious and blasphemous desecration of the Holy Eucharist by asking for public reparation.

The University of Central Florida takes religion seriously. Too seriously, apparently. It wants to expel Benjamin Collard for the audacity of attending a Catholic church service.

Recently, a student at the University of Central Florida attended Catholic mass and walked off with a cracker, in protest of the university allocating funds to religious organization, according to some accounts, and to show a friend, according to others.

On July 8th, blogger PZ Myers-- famous for his opinions about atheism and evolution, and infamous for having been kicked out of a screening of Ben Stein's Expelled-- wrote a post about a cracker. Not just any cracker, mind you, but the holiest of crackers-- the Eucharist.

Have you heard about 'Expelled'? The new film featuring Ben Stein (yes, he of the vast vats of trivial knowledge with which he defended his vast vats of money.)
It's a film pushing the Intelligent Design agenda.

Sophisticated Theological Arguments are Unanswerable Source: ScienceBlogs
The Rational Response Squad has a "competitor": a group calling itself the Righteous Response Squad. I think we can already see a problem—we can expect a dearth of originality and imagination from this new gang.
PZ being sued by 'crackpot'Source: Bad Astronomy Blog
But this time it's different. A guy by the name of Stuart Pivar has written a tome that says that genetic biologists have their profession all wrong, and that only he knows the truth. In a blog entry (and some followups) PZ Myers pointed out that the guy is clearly wrong.
Don't 'debate' creationists! Source: ScienceBlogs
A scientist, Charles L. Rulon, debated an ID creationist, and here are the opening remarks he gave to justify joining in the debate. He first gave a list of reasons to not debate, which I'll summarize in my own words here:
