In a Sept. 30 story about a bid to buy the bankrupt Chicago Sun-Times, The Associated Press reported erroneously that Rupert Murdoch had sold the Sun-Times in 1993 to Hollinger Inc. Murdoch sold the newspaper in 1986 to a separate investment group that did not include Hollinger; Hollinger purchased the Sun-Times in 1994. The same error appeared in a Dec. 29, 2008, story about the decline in the number of daily newspapers in Chicago.
