There was an irony to it, as if Bush policies hadn't contributed to the plight of American children needing Idol to raise money for food and medicine. Sort of like Richard Nixon's appearance on popular '70s show "Laugh In" to say "Sock it to me?"

I'm sure that most of you have heard about the wonderful television show that we call American Idol. In it, ambitious youngsters use their wonderful singing voices (or so they believe) to impress the judges and move onto to glorious fame and fortune (or so they believe).

Hey, I don't mind admitting it, I watch American Idol. Frankly, I find the show uplifting. What could be better than watching young people reach for their dream — the American Dream. If nothing else you need to admire them for having the courage to go for it.
