In South Carolina - where this incident took place - the racial tensions are unfortunately very high. Couple that with Charleston's extremely negative perceptions of skateboarders. Add to that the outlawing of skateboarding within the city limits of Charleston.

Skateboarding is illegal in the city limits of Charleston, SC. That was the reason a police officer gave for pushing a youth off his skateboard. Currently there has been no discipline action against the police officer.
