The great Taco Truck Wars of 2008 appear to have come to a close.
Southern California's taco truck war continued to sizzle as county officials asked a judge to reinstate a law he threw out last month that had forced truck operators to move every hour or face the threat of jail.
The hundreds of taco trucks that dot Los Angeles County and dish out cheap fast-food dishes such as carnitas, quesadillas and carne asada will be allowed to conduct business from set locations, a judge determined, throwing out a law requiring that the trucks move every hour.
Jose Ochoa has parked his taco truck on the same stretch of road since 1989, and, like scores of other lunch vendors around Los Angeles, he refused to pack it up Thursday, the first day for a new law requiring food wagons to move every hour or face $1,000 fines.
