British Airways loses $77 million in first half

British Airways has placed an order for 36 new aircraft - the largest the airline has made since 1998. BA will buy 12 Airbus A380 superjumbos and 24 Boeing 787s, to be delivered between 2010 and 2014, an order which has a list price of $8.2bn (£4.1bn).

Heathrow Airport is calling on 15,000 volunteers to help test out facilities at the new terminal five building. Airport operator BAA said it wanted to ensure the terminal "runs like clockwork" when it opens in March.
