— Joseph Simmons, known better to the masses as Rev. Run, Run DMC frontman and beloved patriarch on the MTV reality show Run's House, has signed a million dollar book deal. The contract with Gotham Books will pay Simmons over one million dollars to pen the still untitled book with his wife Justine. The subject of the book will be family and will contain tips to keep your family together and happy. Also, the entire Simmons family (prominently featured on Run's House) will embark on a nationwide, epic, mobile book tour after its release sometime in 2008.
The Simmons family on the MTV series Run's House has been, to some, put up on a pedestal as a modern day family ideal, and the family is surely a positive example of a happy and loving clan. It is because of this that MTV, under new head of programming Tony DiSanto, is ordering more episodes of Run's House than had previously been expected. DiSanto's game plan is to cut back on the number of series the network produces, but increase the episode orders for the series they do keep.
This seems like a prudent move. MTV has a lot of programming out there at the moment and, to say it nicely, a lot of it is hit and miss. MTV has been known for giving their big shows shorter episode orders than, say, the big networks. Now, with their new strategy, the shows that the network likes will see more air time than ever before. Other shows getting the Run's House treatment are The Hills and Laguna Beach.
Run's House is currently filming its fourth season and will continue to throughout the summer and early fall. The fourth season will begin airing on MTV sometime in the latter part of 2007.
