— Nick Bollea, better known as Nick Hogan on the VH1 reality series Hogan Knows Best, the 17-year-old son of professional wrestler Hulk Hogan, was released from the hospital today after getting into a car wreck while driving with a friend Sunday evening in Clearwater, Florida. Nick, who can be seen on his father's VH1 reality show Hogan Knows Best, was driving his yellow Toyota Supra with 22-year-old friend John Graziano when the car jumped over the median and flew into a palm tree.
Police and firefighters on the scene had to pry Nick and the passenger from the car and they were both sent by helicopter to Bayfront Medical Center in St. Petersburg, Florida. Though Nick was released earlier today, Graziano remains in critical condition, according to medical staffers at the hospital.
Clearwater police spokesperson Wayne Shelor described the accident, saying "It destroyed the car" and that the result was "a spectacular wreck." There is still no word on what caused the accident.
Nick is likely not unaccustomed to the world of car crashes as he received a Formula Drift license in 2006 and is now signed as a professional drifter for Dodge. Despite the inherent tragedy of a car accident, the irony of the fact that he was driving a Toyota should not be lost on anyone. Drifting, as made popular by its titular role in the third Fast and the Furious film, is a unique form of auto racing, though despite that film's suggestion of illegal road races, it is also a legitimate competitive sport.
Nick is one of the stars of the reality show Hogan Knows Best, which focuses on the home life of his father, professional wrestler Hulk Hogan (born Terrence Bollea). It follows the Hulkster, Nick, Hulk's wife Linda and their wannabe pop star daughter Brooke. Comparisons to the Osbournes are natural, though that would make Nick Jack, so it's surprising it took him until 17-years-old to get into this kind of trouble. Hogan Knows Best airs Sunday nights at 10pm on VH1 and is currently in its fourth season.
