— Richard Jefferson stiffs bride at altar
San Antonio Spur Richard Jefferson was supposed to get married last weekend in New York but he apparently broke it off so late that he didn’t bother some of his pals who came in for the $2 million wedding. He was going to get hitched to former Net dancer Kesha Ni'Cole Nichols but decided that he wasn’t interested in spending the rest of his born days with her just before the weekend got underway. Nichols apparently found the strength to let her friends and family know but Jefferson seemed to forget. (New York Post)
Boozer headed to Bulls?
Rumor had it that Carlos Boozer was the centerpiece in a three-team deal involving Utah, Chicago, and New York but it appears the Knicks part of the deal has disappeared from the picture. Still, it is believed that Chicago and the Jazz could have some kind of deal in place that would bring Boozer to the City With Big Shoulders. However you slice it, Boozer is feeling pretty sure that he won’t be with the Jazz this season and that he’ll be gone pretty soon. (Chicago Sun-Times, Detroit Free Press)
Ben Wallace returning to Pistons?
Ben Wallace just took a $10 million buyout in Phoenix and the word is that he wants to play for one more season. He had talked about retiring earlier in the year but it appears he’s changed his mind. He’s reportedly asked the Pistons if they have any interest. Wallace still has a house nearby. (Detroit News)
Nate Robinson could be going to Greece
The Greek team Olympiacos is busy this off-season. It apparently made some effort to get Stephon Marbury to cross the pond and now it is supposedly offering $5 million for Knicks restricted free agent Nate Robinson to come overseas and play. Knicks president Donnie Walsh is supposedly trying to get Robinson and fellow restricted free agent David Lee to sign this week. Robinson reportedly wants to stay in New York and the NBA but $5 million could make a pretty big difference. (New York Post)
Nets tried to get Marion
The Nets apparently put a bunch of effort into grabbing Shawn Marion earlier this off-season but he said ixnay to coming to New Jersey. (Newark Star-Ledger)
Boston confident it can re-sign Glen Davis
When Glen Davis was still in high school, he body-slammed Shaquille O’Neal during a little friendly wrestling match. Perhaps that’s one of the reasons Celtics GM Danny Ainge is so hell-bent on re-signing the guy. The Celtics are seemingly pretty confident they can get the 23-year-old forward back in Boston, but Detroit, Utah, Cleveland, Charlotte, Dallas, and New Orleans are also attempting to sign him.
